JANELLE HIGGINS
Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Janelle began performing in local theater and dance as a child. She received a B.F.A. in Dance from the University of Illinois before relocating to San Francisco Bay area. Here she continued to dance and perform in the local community, while developing a career as an artist. In the 1980s she spent a two-year stint in Hawaii, where she performed professionally as a dancer in a local night club revue; and also worked for an entertainment company, delivering ‘singing/dancing’ telegrams. Returning to Marin County, she got married, began raising two children, and started a business creating hand-painted clothing. She continued to perform as a dancer, at The Renaissance Pleasure Fair and occasionally in local dance productions. Between 2005-2008 she performed with the Gypsy Moon Theater company as a Indian ‘Kathak’ dancer. Most recently, she appeared as ‘The Witch’ in Sam Parry’s 2009 New Years Eve pantomime Novus Annus at the Fairfax Pavilion.
